As a Security Consultant, you will be a key advisor for IBM’s clients, analyzing business requirements to design and implement the best security solutions for their needs. You will apply your technical skills to find the balance between enabling and securing the client’s organization with the cognitive solutions that are making IBM the fastest growing enterprise security business in the world.

Your Role and Responsibilities

The SOC team is part of CISO organization; responsible for protecting IT assets in the enterprise via proactive monitoring. Our team has highly motivated, innovative, and out-of-the box thinkers that help continuously improve the security posture in an ever-changing environment.

Successful candidate will be a Cybersecurity SOC Manager and SME. This individual would be responsible for Standards, Education, Quality Assurance, KPI/Status Reporting, Business Relationship Management. This leader would also serve as an executive advisor and a hands-on SME; requiring deep Cybersecurity subject matter expertise with demonstrated communication skills for active collaboration across various Business Units (BUs) within IBM.

Responsibilities

  • The Cybersecurity SOC Manager is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the team
  • Manage the operations of the team by identifying operational needs; analyzing resources, costs and forecasts, and incorporating them into team workplan
  • Update or Define Standards and Procedures (SOPs)
  • Education and Training of the SOC Team
  • Quality Assurance of team operations
  • Daily KPI and Status reporting
  • Maintain working relationships with Business Information Security Officers (BISOs)
  • Provide recommendations on Cybersecurity solutions that would help improve protection, detection, or response capabilities
  • Liaise between executive management, senior leaders, and BISOs/BUs
  • Engage BUs to champion and drive support for initiatives, workplans, and priorities
  • Serve as a SME and trusted source to executive leadership
  • Model and drive continuous learning to maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, and development of talent; motivating and empowering teams; building organizational capacity and developing high-potential employees for growth opportunities and advancement
  • Stay current with industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices
  • Provide guidance and leadership when difficult decisions need to be made
  • Ensure team performance and expectations align with team and business objectives

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of Cybersecurity experience with at least 5 years of people management responsibilities. Experience in leading team(s) in a cybersecurity organization.
  • Knowledge of and/or proven level of success in developing and implementing Cybersecurity Incident Response processes/procedures/standards
  • Experience in IT training/education is highly desired
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Security, Information Systems, or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of various IT or Information Security, standards, frameworks, and regulations
  • Obtained or demonstrates active pursuit of one or more of the following certifications: Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or similar certifications.
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills; with the ability to present to a technical or non-technical audience
  • Possess high-level cybersecurity experience in three or more of the following areas: Cloud Security, Mobile Security, Application Security, Security Operations, Incident Response, IT Risk Management, Vulnerability Management, or Security Analytics.
  • Possesses high level of integrity, trustworthiness and confidence, and represents the company and its management team at the highest level of professionalism.
  • Works effectively with a variety of personalities and can adapt his/her approach to effectively reach and develop his/her team. Uses this skill as well as his/her functional knowledge to both earn and maintain a high level of credibility with the team.
