Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking applications for the position to start in 2023.

Management time allowance: 7 lessons per week

Note: The ability to teach Theory of Knowledge or Wellbeing will be an added advantage.

Member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

  • Work closely with the Principal to lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of an overarching High School Technology for Learning Strategic Plan (detailed below)
  • Lead on the development of SJI International being a data-rich school that informs school improvement planning at all levels and student progress, including well-being (detailed below)
  • Lead the review, development, and improvement of management and administrative systems and working practices in order to ensure their effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Data Protection legislation are fully complied with at all times, including School data retention policies across the school
  • Ensure that relevant policies are updated and fit for purpose
  • Help oversee the development of an understanding of personalized learning needs and the importance of raising achievement among all teachers and students
  • Line Management of a Head of Faculty and of the Data Specialist Administrator
  • Work with the VP (Curriculum) and AP (Teaching & Learning) to lead on assessment for learning and assessment of learning
  • Work with the VP (Curriculum) to plan the High School calendar
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection
  • Be aware of and support an inclusive environment and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
  • Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
  • Take an active part in all key school events and attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
  • Participate in relevant training, other learning activities, and performance management as required
  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities, commensurate with the level of the post, as be determined after negotiation between management and the postholder

Strategic Leadership of Technology for Learning

  • Work with the Leadership Team, faculties, departments and individual teachers, and library to promote best practices in the effective use of Technology for teaching and learning, including the line-management of the Technology for Learning Coach
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Principal (Staff Development), identify training needs and provide opportunities for teachers to develop their use of Technology for teaching and learning
  • Manage an ICT coach and oversee their role in developing the integration of Technology for Learning
  • Identify, budget for, and manage Technology for Learning to meet the needs of the Department and the School and identify priorities for expenditure
  • Maintain an active role in the international educational technology community, collaborating with others to ensure that the school’s ICT provision is at the forefront of developments
  • Collaborate with the Vice-Principal (Curriculum) to develop, review and integrate standards, benchmarks, and proficiencies in ICT throughout the High School in line with local and international standards
  • Explore and action opportunities for students to extend themselves through the co-curricular activity programme
  • Administrative tasks in relation to the development of the E-Learning Platform and booking systems eg. Parents evening.

Assessment & Reporting

  • Build a robust assessment framework in line with a school policy that ensures effective formative learning for students
  • Lead on the timely and accurate collection of student progress data.
  • Lead on the input and analysis of examination results and internal data drops with the Vice-Principal (Curriculum) and Learning Coordinators, producing reports for all stakeholders including the Board of Governors(BoG), Executive Leadership Team(ELT), SLT, and Middle Leaders.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of reporting of student progress to parents
  • To oversee the management, organisation, coordination, and update of the school MIS system(s) relating to pupils and staff.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of the collection, provision, and recording of all assessment and results data held in the MIS system.
  • Ensure all data returns are produced and submitted within the timescales given, including, in liaison with the leadership team, the annual school census returns, including workforce census with HR.
  • Liaison with the Central IT team to ensure all IT systems effectively support the needs of the High School.

Manage the activity of the High School Data Administrator

  • The management, organisation, coordination, and update of the school MIS system(s) relating to pupils and staff.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of all data held in the MIS system, maintaining student and parental data etc.
  • The collection, provision, and recording (data entry) of appropriate statistics.
  • Generation of management, periodic and pre-defined reports from MIS system(s).
  • Student assessment data collation, checking target grades, mapping and management, and creation of all school reporting to parents.
  • Ensure all data returns are produced and submitted within the timescales given, including, in liaison with the leadership team, the annual school census returns, including workforce census with HR.
  • Administrative tasks relating to student transition(s), year changeovers, managing admissions onto SIMs
  • Administrative tasks, where appropriate for school’s network(s), including creation and updating of user accounts, passwords etc.
  • Production of and analysis of all school surveys
  • Administering changes to timetable and data entry etc.
  • Liaison with Network Manager (IT) to ensure all MIS updates are appropriately installed on release.
  • Manage and administer secure access data transfer systems. Coordinate and manage all support calls to the appropriate bodies, in relation to the MIS system(s).
  • Administrative tasks in relation to the development of the Home Learning Platform and booking systems eg. Parents evening.
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Data Protection legislation are fully complied with at all times, including School data retention policies across school.
  • Contribute to the review, development, and improvement of administrative systems and working practices in order to maintain an efficient and effective MIS service.
  • Producing reports and management information and distributing to BOG, ELT, SLT, and teaching and support staff as appropriate and requested, chasing reports.
  • Ensure key data is transferred to the website, e.g. school Calendars and dates
  • Manage Baseline testing (MidYIS, Yellis, ALIS, and attitudinal surveys).

General Duties

  • Contributing to establishing the core values of the leadership team and their practical expression.
  • Supporting the Principal in providing a clear direction for the development of the school including contributing to management decisions on all aspects of policy, development, and organisation by playing a significant role in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the school’s improvement plan.
  • Leading the school in the absence of the Principal, if required.
  • Taking on specific tasks related to the day-to-day administration and organisation of the school as requested by the Principal.
  • Attending SLT meetings as required, and report back to staff when necessary.
  • Taking on any additional responsibilities that might, from time to time, be determined.
  • Supporting the Principal and staff in the review, implementation, development, and monitoring of whole-school policies and procedures which promote the school’s values, aims, and objectives.
  • Overseeing relevant aspects of the school organisation and management, including preparing agendas, chairing meetings, and producing minutes, in order to ensure that school policies and practices are being delivered.
  • Ensuring that all staff has a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities and ensure staff share the aims of the school in promoting a high quality of learning in the classroom.
  • Supporting the performance management process as required and use the process to develop own personal and professional effectiveness as well as those staff members assigned.
  • Assisting in the recruitment and appointment of staff, as requested, and their deployment in the timetable to make most effective use of their skills, expertise, and experience. Identifying and engaging in appropriate training opportunities to promote professional effectiveness in this role.
  • Leading by example as a teacher and as a manager, achieving high standards of pupil attainment, behaviour and motivation through effective teaching.
  • Being an excellent example to pupils, staff, and parents through their professional presentation and conduct in order to promote pupils’ personal development.
  • Supporting the Principal in leading the development of the personalised learning agenda, raising achievement, and improving the quality of teaching, learning, and support across the school.
  • Treating people fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect to create and maintain a positive school culture.
  • Supporting the Principal to build a collaborative learning culture within the school, sustaining effective, positive relationships with all staff, pupils, parents, and the local community and looking for ways to actively engage with other schools to build effective learning communities.
  • Working collaboratively and managing innovation and change.
