Reuters is looking for a video desk producer to join our video news team in Singapore.

The successful candidate must be able to work calmly under pressure and with tight deadlines to deliver a top-notch file for our clients – both internal and external.

He or she should also be a self-starter who is comfortable working on the desk as well as in the field. The successful candidate must be a team player who can work closely with colleagues in bureaux, text and pictures colleagues with efficiency and patience that a U.N. diplomat would envy.

About the Role

As Video Desk Producer, you will:

  • Edit videos from bureaux
  • Sub scripts from bureaux
  • Proof-read the subbed scripts
  • Brainstorm for creative ideas to cover stories
  • Help to set daily news agenda
  • Help bureaux conceptualise stories
  • Coordinate with bureaux and London on daily output stories

About You

To be a Reuters producer, you should have:

  • 3-5 years of experience in journalism
  • Strong news judgment, work calmly under pressure, meet tight deadlines.
  • Sharp eye for visual news elements and video/multi-media story-telling
  • Thorough understanding of latest video technologies for shooting, editing, transmitting and sharing video
  • Strong social media news gathering skills
  • Excellent communication/writing skills in English. Asian language(s) is a plus
  • Able to work long hours, weekend shifts, often under extreme pressure and unsupervised at times
  • Respond courageously to major breaking news events, acting quickly and in a responsible manner
  • A passion for story telling in various formats
